A Poem: What Have We Done?
Winding ourselves up and down with the fetters of yesterday: Lord what have we done to your church? Springtime brings flowers and singing birds,, But our hearts slumber on in a perpetual winter. Our meetings have become not a place to find God so much as to hide from him? Unreality floods our doors…
Winding ourselves up and down with the fetters of yesterday:
Lord what have we done to your church?
Springtime brings flowers and singing birds,,
But our hearts slumber on in a perpetual winter.
Our meetings have become not a place to find God
so much as to hide from him?
Unreality floods our doors as we strive to keep
the machine going.
Christmas comes: ‘Joy to the World’
and people pity us –
They can read our faces:
Our lips tell of life, our faces tell the lie.
